What it is

Why an unfamiliar Saudi store needs this more than a discount.

A customer finds your store for the first time. They have never heard of you. The question in their mind is not about your products — it is whether you are a real business or an account that will disappear with their payment.

Maroof answers that question before they have to ask it. It is run by the Ministry of Commerce, listing stores that have been verified against a Commercial Registration or a valid freelance document. Stores on the platform are subject to Ministry oversight, and the badge is displayed on the store's own website.

Registration is free. It does not require a paid intermediary, and it does not require a Commercial Registration if you hold a valid freelance document.

What it changes commercially

  • Trust at the point of decision. A recognised verification badge on a store's footer does measurable work on first-time buyers.
  • Discovery. Maroof is a directory in its own right, browsed by customers looking for verified Saudi stores.
  • Signals elsewhere. Verified store status supports your credibility across payment providers, platforms and advertising reviews.
  • Obligations, honestly. Being listed means your store is monitored. Store details need to be accurate and your return policy has to be real and published.

Levels

How store standing is built up.

A Maroof listing is not one static achievement. The more of your store you document and verify, the stronger the standing — and the more visible it is in the directory.
Maroof verification levels
Level What it generally involves Commercial effect
Basic registration Account created and core store details entered The store appears in Maroof and can display the basic badge
Enhanced Commercial registration or freelance document linked, social and contact details completed Improved standing within the directory and a stronger trust signal
Advanced The above, plus clear published policies and positive customer engagement Higher visibility in Maroof search and a more prominent badge
Fully verified The above, plus a linked payment gateway and a genuine, verifiable business presence The highest trust level, and the position Google and customers respond to best

Level criteria are determined by the platform and by the documentation you are genuinely able to provide. We prepare all your official documentation accurately and transparently according to official platform standards.

Common problems

Why Maroof applications get rejected or stall.

Store name different from the name on the registration Use your registered name or trade name exactly as recorded
Registration document not linked Without the link, the store stays at the basic level
No return policy published E-commerce regulations require a clear policy, and so does review
Store URL not live, or not publicly reachable Review requires a working website
Contact details that nobody answers Support contact routes are part of the assessment
Products listed that are not permitted on the platform Certain categories and goods are excluded
Descriptions copied from another store Duplicate content and misrepresentation both cause problems
Inaccurate statements about warranties, guarantees or approvals Claims have to be truthful and verifiable

Questions

Maroof FAQs.

Is Maroof registration really free?

Yes. Registration on Maroof is free and completed online through unified national access. Nobody should be charging you a government fee for it, because there is no government fee. Our charge is for the work — getting your store details, policies and documentation right so the review goes through, and installing and maintaining the badge.

Do I need a Commercial Registration?

Not necessarily. Individuals can register using a valid freelance document issued through the freelance portal. Businesses register against their Commercial Registration. Which applies depends on how you are operating, and we will tell you which route fits your situation.

How long does it take?

Registration takes a short time if your documents are ready. Review is typically completed within a couple of days, though it can take longer if the reviewer raises questions about store details or policies. The delays we see are almost always caused by a name mismatch, a missing return policy, or a website that is not live.

What happens if I change my store details later?

Update them in Maroof. The platform is monitored, and store information that no longer matches reality is exactly the kind of thing that costs you the verification you paid nothing for but worked to get. We recommend a review of the listing at least a couple of times a year, or whenever your contact details, name or website changes.

Does the badge actually help sales?

We cannot put a number on it, and anyone who does is inventing one. What we can say is that the badge addresses the specific doubt a first-time buyer has about an unknown Saudi store, and that it is displayed by stores that take trust seriously. It is one of the few genuinely cheap trust signals available to a small store.

Do I need a physical address?

Requirements relate to your registration document and a working store presence, not necessarily a retail premises. If you are registered through a freelance document or as a sole establishment, the registration itself is what is verified. If your business genuinely has premises, the details should match what is registered.

Can you do this if my store is on Salla or Zid?

Yes — and in fact the platforms handle much of the groundwork, so the work concentrates on the Maroof application itself, the policies, and installing the badge on the storefront. It is a natural companion to store setup, which is why we usually do both together.
